WHO WE ARE

Jill Place, MA, RD

Jill is truly a registered dietitian with a difference. She has enjoyed a multifaceted career as a food industry spokesperson, chef, motivational speaker, and private practice counselor and consultant. Jill is considered a world-class authority on nutritional supplements and wellness and speaks about supplements all over the world. Because of her triumph over an eating disorder, Jill is also very passionate about diet-free weight management. Her talks and articles about Getting Lighter instead of dieting are dynamic and life-changing.

Jill has enjoyed success in many facets of the nutrition field, but acheived international recognition while working at an integrated cancer center in Los Angeles. While at the center, she served on the Editorial Panel for the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutritionists' (ASPEN) Oncology Diet and Nutrition Manual and published a peer-reviewed journal article on nutritional supplements and cancer. Because of this exposure, Jill was honored to speak to her peers at the American Dietetic Association and the Dietitians of Canada on the importance of nutritional supplements in cancer treatment. Jill is also the author of Supplement Savvy, the only Supplement Education System for health care professionals. Supplement Savvy positions health care professionals as supplement experts so that they can help their patients to make better supplement choices.

Jill oversees our "Total Nutrition" section. In this section are her Supplement Savvy patient education materials formatted especially for the internet. Jill has also formulated a new way to weigh less with Arlene Harder called Get Lighter. Instead of depending . . . and failing . . . on diets, Get Lighter allows you to explore the reasons why do overeat in four dynamic ways: by writing, doing art, with guided imagery scripts, and with movement. Jill is also the author of Dinners with Barney in the Recipes for Pure Enjoyment Section. Jill combines whimsical musings about Barney, her adopted dad, with scrumptious low-fat and fast recipes garnered from her daily dinners with him.

Jill lives high on a hill in Los Angeles with Barney and her cat, Doll Tearheart. She divides her time between her private practice, writing, speaking, teaching acting, and meaningful relationships with fabulous people. You can reach Jill at munchnmove@earthlink.net.
