If you were fortunate in having parents who gave you the nurturance and guidance you needed at each stage of your development, today you are likely to make healthy choices, reaching many of your goals. You also know how to nurture your children along life’s path so they, too, can become resourceful, resilient, and compassionate adults.

However, you may not have had the privilege of being raised by parents who knew how to give you the encouragement all children need. So today, while you may not know what it is that you missed, it is more likely that you have low self-confidence and greater difficulty in reaching your goals and dealing with life than others seem to have.
