The Silver and Gold of Friendship

In summer camp you learned about making new friends and keeping the old. This section of Support4Change gives ideas for how to do just that.

If you've ever gone to summer camp, you may have learned a song that is sung as a round: "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold." The melody is so memorable that years later a piece of it can remind one of a campfire and the faces of new friends.

Truly our friends are the silver and gold in our lives. We need them not only for emotional support but for our very health, as research now affirms.
