True Beauty Always Shines Through

People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.

— Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

In today's culture when we think about beauty, we often focus on how the outside of us looks to others. From botox and makeup to the latest fashions, we strive to be "beautiful." There's nothing wrong with attempting to look as nice as we can. Yet everyone can be very beautiful without spending a dime if they conduct themselves with courage, integrity, love, gentleness, patience, and serenity. The question this week, therefore, concerns the awareness of a deeper sense of beauty than outward appearance.

Incidentally, the picture is one I took in Sydney at the Queen Victoria mall

What qualities of the human spirit might you need to develop, and express more consciously, so that you might bring beauty not only to yourself, but to others?

Action Question: How willing are you to work on that quality this week?
