Note: To find out more about how these sites were chosen, please read How We Select Our Resources. Also, many sites listed on our General Mental Health issues page are extremely large, and contain information on many different issues. Please be sure to check out those sites as well.

Co-dependents Anonymous

http://www.coda.org

Based on a 12-step model similar to Alcoholics Anonymous, Co-Dependents Anonymous (CoDA) targets this site mostly at co-dependents seeking a 12-step program. Their website states that CoDA is a fellowship of men and women whose common purpose is to develop healthy relationships. The only requirement for membership is a desire for healthy and loving relationships. We rely on the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions for knowledge and wisdom. These are the principles of our program and guides to developing honest and fulfilling relationships. Through applying the Twelve Steps and principles in CoDA to our daily life and relationships, both present and past, we can experience a new freedom from our self-defeating lifestyles and realize a new joy, acceptance and serenity in our lives.

National Mental Health Association

The National Mental Health Association (NMHA) is the country's oldest and largest nonprofit organization addressing all aspects of mental health and mental illness. Their material on co-dependency offers information on this problem and characteristics that can be useful in identifying oneself as being co-dependent.
