My boyfriend of 2 years is a perfectionist and it is tearing us apart. He doesn't see how stressful it is for me. I can't tell him when something upsets me because that means I am telling him he isn't perfect and he freaks out. I can't take it anymore, I won't take it. Is there anything I can do for him, or do I just give up before we hate each other?

This is a response to both Cornelia and Counseling Atlanta (missed replying to Cornelia when I was out this past summer).

As I have written in another post, my husband and I are "sole-mates," not "soul-mates." After more than fifty years of marriage, I find that as I have become more comfortable with myself, it is easier to be more comfortable with others, even those who are very different than I am.

Irreconcilable differences is commonly heard these days especially among celebrities who are getting a divorce. This is an inspiring post that couples, celebrity or not, should read and take to heart because relationships are very disposable these days and that's a sad thing.

Marlen,

I am cleaning out old email files and came across the email my assistant sent to you in Oct. (when I was out of commission with a virus). As I wrote to the person below, I enjoy it when people like what I write and tell me about it.

Have a great New Year (since this is being written on Dec. 29).

Johanna,

Thanks for the link to the quiz website. I thought the questions of the test you suggest were very good. I would recommend it to anyone who is having problems with reaching goals and who wonders whether their motivation plays a role in it.

Well not blowing my own trumpet but the truth is I will rate myself 10 out of 10 when it comes to motivation.I am always on my heels for updating and improving myself for the better.I can't say much about difficult relationships as I don't have any or even if I have I think they don't matter.
Check this if you want -
How motivated are you?
The test finds out how inspired you really are.

Thanks for your comment. In this country we do seem to make a habit of complaining (although I admit there is a lot of room for improvement).

I am interested in knowing what you've written about grandparents raising grandchildren.

This reminder of relativity is most welcome. Sometimes we think we have such huge problems, then we look at the lives of others and realize we've actually got it pretty good.

Since I interviewed several families of which the grandparents raise the grandchildren, I have had the benchmark of realizing that, no, my life really isn't all that difficult!
